Is there a quicker way to generate screenshots of webpages?

Absolutely! You can use a bookmarklet to automatically help you start the screenshot process. Once you find the page you want to screenshot, you just click the bookmarklet and away you go.

The toughest part can be actually getting the bookmarklet installed on your system. Here are the step-by-step directions for installing the bookmarklet.

Internet Explorer Installation:

  • With IE open, click the View menu and select Toolbars. Make sure that there is a checkmark besides Links.
  • Right-click here on our bookmarklet script: Take Screenshot
  • Select Add to Favorites from the menu
  • Because it is javascript, a box may warn you that the favorite is not unsafe. Click Yes.
  • In the favorites box that appears, select the Create In button
  • Click the links folder.
  • Click OK
  • The Bookmarklet will appear in the Link section of your IE toolbar.
Firefox Installation:
  • With firefox open, click the View menu and select Show/Hide, and make sure Personal Toolbar is checked.

Opera Installation:
  • Make sure your Personal Bar is visable. If not, you can enable it from the View menu.

Safari Installation:
  • Make sure your Bookmark Bar is visable. If not, you can enable it from the View menu.

Google Chrome Installation:
  • Make sure your Bookmark Bar is visable. If not, you can enable it from the Wrench Icon next to the address bar and click on 'Always show bookmarks bar'. Keyboard shortcut Cntrl+B.
